Family Support Ministry

"Except the LORD build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain." Psalms 127:1

In the book of Genesis, the book of origins, we see the Triune God unfolding His eternal power, glory and infinite wisdom when He created the heavens and the earth.

We read from the Holy Scriptures that the creation of man is glorious because man is created after the image and likeness of God.The creation of woman out of the rib of man is to provide man with a help meet for him. When God brought the woman to the man, we hear the divine proclamation of the institution of marriage.

Marriage is likened to a key that unlocks the door to an intimate relationship which brings about the conception, birth and organic development of the family. As it was in the beginning, it is now and it shall be that marriage and the development of the family should serve the purpose to give all glory and honor to the LORD our maker.

As such, the Family Support Ministry (FSM) of Covenant Evangelical Reformed Church (CERC) has the calling to encourage covenantal family development that is subservient to Holy Scriptures and hope to fulfill this by calling upon our families:

  • To nurture spiritual growth in the family that is rooted in the knowledge and love of God. [Eph 4:15]
  • To promote the unity of the Spirit in the bond of spiritual oneness, calling upon our husband and wife to walk worthy of the vocation wherewith they have been called. [Eph 5:33 and Gen 2:24]
  • To train up a child in the way he should go before the Lord and provoking family members unto love, faith, hope, and good works in the name of the Lord our God. [Proverb 22:6 and 1Cor 13:4-8]
  • Last but not least, FSM hopes to build up a good source of relevant family-related reading materials and will from time to time organize various pro-family events. [Heb 10:24-25]

May this support ministry be an instrument through which the LORD our God is pleased to use to help members build up their families in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Ephesians 6:4
